Great exhibition at the El Indalo Gallery
Our first meeting arriving in the gardens of El Indalo Art Gallery, on this day of vernissage, is with "Drakkar": the imposing work of Daniel Sanchez stands majestically between the pine trees from the top of its 1.30 m high, or rather two meters together with its base. "Drakkar" is from Saint Béat marble, like many works of the sculptor, together with Izaourt marble, and weighs just… 150 kg!
Though, it is with wood that the sculptor from Albi began his exploration over 15 years ago, to discover then the stone "I transform the wood, stone, from outside, as they transform me from inside. I rely on a succinct drawing , then the precious clay modeling and finally, I carve directly the material itself ".
The ten sculptures exhibited in the gallery tell about the same quest in different dimensions "I work on volumes, hollow and full and rounded shapes" and thus gives us a series of perfect curves to intricate like the infinity of the " invisible ourselves."
Expertly arranged in the room of the gallery, each sculpture has found almost as its "alter ego" in the paintings of Marie Danielle Leblanc: Harmony of colors and conducted lines lead us to the world of the Canadian painter "In my practice, I like to experiment with different media such as acrylic, oil, tar, ink and resine. I'm interested in the inner functioning of the living. That is why I particularly like to work with tar; an organic matter with unique colour, odor and texture."
Marie Danielle Leblanc likes to write her thoughts over the miles, note the names of places, weather and take pictures. She brings back a travel diary she tells in her abstract landscapes where the wide range of matters and tones explode in colors and exalts the imagination. A totally unique style to "give us the experience of a meditative process, the testimony of a new contemplation of the horizon.”
Wonderful idea to have married these two worlds, each of which is already worth a visit alone!
