Heading to the South of France
Due South! Along the Mediterranean, at the foot of the Pyrenees, well below the Massif Central, bathed by rivers, streams and canals, in a unique region at the intersection of the northern and eastern climatic zones.

Heading to the South of France

Due South! The Aude, nestled in the heart of Languedoc between Hérault and the eastern Pyrenees, a short skip to Toulouse, two to Montpelier and four to Barcelona.

Carcassonne, Narbonne, Castelnaudary, Limoux, Leucate and Gruissan are the highlights, the most famous, the most visited while, around them the more than 400 villages weave the landscapes of Aude, so well preserved, on a resolutely human scale.

No big agglomerations, no industrial landscapes, just one motorway around Corbières which we enjoy taking for the beauty of the landscape it crosses. The rest is made up of pretty little roads, lanes and paths offering hours of inviting walks. Passing your time in the Aude is a trip into a world apart, sometimes in the middle of nowhere, or maybe the essential, but at the same time so close.

Here it is beautiful and warm in the summer, mild and sunny up to Christmas, luminous at the beginning of the year. Meanwhile, the rains finally arrive,in general not enough, and the weather becomes very changeable until the spring. After that, the sun gains the overhand as soon as it appears, warming facades and faces until finally becoming dominant. For their part, the winds here, the Cers and the Marin, closely bound to the landscape, are intoxicating in the dry season, tempering the heat, and sometimes pushing us towards the fireplace in winter.

The light is ever-present, that of the day saturated in blue or contrasted in the struggle of the elements, but also that of the night, with its scintillating stars that no lighting can manage to dim.

The Aude is there, in its corner of France, thus is the Aude and so it welcomes us.
